What is the best way to punch? Karate style punches from the hip or boxing?

Boxing style punches are better, as using traditional karate style punches against an opponent who knows how to box would be like trying to fight with your hands in your pockets. Universal Self Defence has incorporated more of the western style boxing punches as they are proven to be the most effective in a very competitive sport. Only down side to boxing punches is you need to put more emphasis on hitting with the larger bones in the hand when punching with bare knuckles. Boxers can often break bones if hitting full force without wearing wrist wraps and gloves.
