Duck punch, apply neck and arm lock
Demonstrator: Master Bryan Class: Adults Level: Intermediate
Strategy: It is extremely difficult to block a barrage of punches.
It is easier to stay clear of the punches until you have a chance to stop the opponent's arms from throwing any more.
The photos below show the defender ducking, and then coming up with his shoulder lifting up the opponent's arm, whilst applying a lock around the neck.
When applying this lock, use the strength of both your arms.
Pull down and in towards you to deepen and strengthen lock.
Keep your opponent leaning sideways and push against his knee with your leg to help break his balance.
As well as disabling the opponent's punches, this technique can be an effective submission technique. Photos: 1. Avoiding punches and ducking. 2. Come up under arm & apply hold on neck. 3. Pull in & down with forearm. |
