When punching the boxing ball, to get the timing and co-ordination right, you need to be able to get the feel of the rhythm of the inflated boxing ball bouncing off your fist. For this reason its very important not wear bag gloves with thick padding when punching the boxing ball as thick padding makes it very difficult to feel the boxing ball.
The best way to pick up and fell the boxing ball action quickly is to start without any gloves at all or just wear thin bag mitts or gym gloves. Start first with short punches to establish the rhythm and timing of the boxing ball and then you can gradually increase the punching action and the speed and eventually try different angles and combine with footwork and defensive moves, ducking and weaving. If you miss hit the boxing ball try to stay relaxed so you will quickly pick up the timing again.
If you start to tense up or get frustrated and start swinging punching at the boxing ball then you need to stop and take a few deep breaths and relax before you start again. There is a valuable lesson to be learnt here not only when using the boxing ball and its all about the relationship between being about to relax and stay cool and to improving your overall performance in so many things you want to be good at.
Once you master working out on the boxing balls your boxing fitness skills and attitude will improve in many ways, the most obvious improvement will be in your accuracy, timing and rhythm and your speed and endurance.
