Morgan and Smai 4ft, 5ft and 6ft punching bags are the most durable and best value punching bags you will find and are by far the most popular for personal use at home and in commercial gyms for boxing, kickboxing and fitness training.
Morgan Punching Bags 4ft, 5ft or 6ft The Morgan 4ft, 5ft and 6ft punching bags now come with a solid steel ring around the top so it is extra strong and sturdy and the punching bag does not sag or loose its shape. It also comes with a 4 way steel chain and swivel which is attached to the top steel ring so the weight and stress of holding the bag up is spread out right around the top perimeter of the bag and held in place by 4 large thick panels that are attached with studs and industrial strength double stitching. The Morgan punching bags are covered with professional strength thick heavy duty synthetic leather and have a real leather feel to them and the covers are reinforced with a strong canvas inner backing. To stop the punching bag from swinging too much on the bottom of the bag there is a tie down strap with a D shape steel ring attached so you can tie the bottom of the bag to a floor anchor or to some heavy weight plates. There are 3 basic colours to choose from with the Morgan punching bags, either red, blue or black. For the all the hard hitting ladies there is also a pink colour Morgan punching bag design in a one metre 100cm or 120cm or (4ft) size. The pink punching bags are Australian custom made to order and have extra strong re-enforced seat belt straps to hold them up instead of the steel ring and chains. The pink punching bags are also foam lined for a softer feel and to reduce impact and the foam lining helps to retain the bag shape.
Morgan Pro Endurance Extra Large Punching Bags Filled 4ft, 5ft or 6ft Morgan have just recently brought out an extra wide professional endurance range of 4, 5 and 6 foot punching bags that are made with commercial strength 7-layer G-14 Korean heavy duty vinyl reinforced with a strong canvas inner webbing. For a more realistic impact feel they have a 5cm thick inner foam lining and are hand filled with a mixture of hard and soft material.
Smai Full Force Punching Bags 4ft, 5ft or 6ft The Smai 4ft, 5ft and 6ft punching bags also come with a strong steel chain and swivel designed to take the spin out of the punching bag. The Smai punching bags are rag filled and 2 cm foam lined to help the bag to keep its shape and to provide a softer impact to reduce stress on your bones and joints. The bag covers are made from top quality rip stop 1000 Denier material and are UV stabilised and mildew resistant. The Smai punching bags are ideal for home use and are also very popular in commercial gyms for boxing, kick boxing and fitness training. The colour choice with Smai bags is too easy, they are all black with a blue trim on the top and bottom.
Punching Bag Sizes If you only need a punching bag for boxing then there is not much need to use a punching bag that is longer than 4 foot. For kickboxing a 5 foot long punching bag should give you enough range for kicking and punching from above your knee to your head height. 6 foot punching bags are extra large and are ideal for commercial gyms with multiple users so the height of the bag does not need to be varied.
Punching Bag Shapes The traditional tried and proven round cylinder punching bag shape is still by far the most popular type of punching bag. More recently though there as been a real trend towards more purpose built punching bag shapes in order to provide more practical and realistic striking angles for various punches, kicks, elbows and knee striking. At Universal Self Defence you have some really well designed punching bag shapes including tear drop, wrecking ball, vertical uppercut, mushroom and the clench shape punching bags for kickboxing.
Empty Unfilled Punching Bags Buying an empty punching bag is a great way to save heaps on delivery costs and is therefore most popular if you do not live on the east coast of Australia or live in a remote rural country area or for overseas shipping where heavy filled punching bag delivery costs are too expensive. Consequently only empty punching bags are available for shipping to locations outside of Australia.
Filling Punching Bags Filling your punching bag is not too hard as they come with a wide zipper opening so there is no need to stitch the bag up after you fill it. The best way to fill your punching bag is to pack and push down cut rags so the bag is firm with no air pockets. Plenty of left over cut rags are usually available from your nearest clothing manufacturer. Also you can just tear up old clothes, towels and sheets. You can also try going to a secondhand clothes store as they often have old clothes that are not fit for resale. You never want to pack your punching bag with sand or sawdust, as it will become compact like cement which will stress the stitching in your punching bag and your bones and joints will not like hitting a punching bag that feels like a brick. If you want your punching bag to be lighter and softer you can pack some crumbled newspaper, old pillows and any foam pieces mixed in with the cut rags mostly in the middle area. If you want the punching bag to be heavier then you can fill a small strong inner bag with sand and put that in the middle of the punching bag.
